Physician-Scientist • Translational Research Leader
Dr. Thompson founded TX Medical Integrated Research Center with a clear vision: to create a research environment where scientific discovery is deliberately connected to clinical application from the very beginning. With dual training in medicine and molecular biology, she has spent over 18 years advancing translational programs in chronic disease and precision therapeutics.
Prior to founding the Center, she held senior research and clinical leadership roles at major academic medical centers and has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. She remains deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of physician-scientists and to building sustainable research infrastructure in Alabama.
Leads the Center’s basic and translational science portfolio with expertise in cellular mechanisms of disease and early-stage therapeutic development.
Oversees clinical trial design, regulatory strategy, and patient-centered study execution across the Center’s research programs.
Guides laboratory research strategy with a focus on biomarkers, molecular diagnostics, and collaborative discovery platforms.
Ensures operational excellence, research infrastructure, and efficient support systems that enable scientific teams to focus on impact.
Traditional research often operates in silos. At TX Medical, we deliberately design every program as an integrated continuum — discovery, validation, clinical evaluation, and pathways to implementation.
